ARTICLE 2: NON PROFIT PURPOSES
2.1 Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c) (3) purposes
This corporation is organized exclusively for one or more of the purposes as specified in Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
2.2 Specific objectives and purposes
The specific objectives and purposes of this corporation shall be:
To promote the relations and ties between Americans of Deir Debwan descent with the people of their ancestral village, Deir Debwan, West Bank, Palestine;
To promote an understanding of Deir Debwan history, culture and values among United States residents of Deir Debwan descent through publications and the support of cultural, recreational and social activities;
To support educational activities and institutions and the funding of scholarships to promote and aid the education of Deir Debwan students;
To provide financial assistance, especially during the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan, to poor and needy families in Deir Debwan;
To improve the health conditions of poor and needy people in Deir Debwan, through, among other means, the development and support of projects to be carried out by Deir Debwan health care clinics which provide free and affordable medical care services for the villagers; and to aid, support, and assist by gifts, contributions or otherwise, other domestic or foreign corporations, community chests, funds and foundations that are organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, religious, scientific, literary or cultural purposes, no part of the net earnings of which inures to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual, and no substantial part of the activities of which is carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and which do not participate or intervene in (including the publication or distribution of statement) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
